OUR STORY

Switch casting
ON.

Casting, our craft’s foundation, has been practiced in Japan since the Nara period. The name CHUZON expresses our aim to switch new ideas “ON” through traditional casting expertise.

Our parent company, YOSHIDA CAST INDUSTRY CO., LTD., has manufactured lost-wax casting equipment since 1960. We apply expertise developed through jewelry and platinum casting equipment, consumables, and technical support to small-batch production.

Wax patterns are replicated in rubber molds, invested, fired, and replaced with metal. Because every process decision affects the quality of small forms, we turn what you want to make into practical production specifications.

KOROMO STUDIO is a project by sisters Mai and Yui Yoshida, successors to Yoshida Cast Industry, founded in 1960. Known as the “Casting Sisters,” we are finding new ways to carry inherited casting expertise into the next generation. Mai works to pass artisans’ skills and livelihoods forward. Yui, who trained as a chef in France, explores how culinary ideas can take form in metal.

CHUZON works with organizations and individuals from the earliest stages. We clarify purpose, quantity, presentation, and delivery, then connect the idea to Yoshida Cast Industry’s production expertise—from small metal products to commemorative pieces.

PROCESS

We organize each decision
in the right order.

This is the sequence we use when moving into production. From reviewing shape and material through rubber molds, wax patterns, investment, burnout, casting, knockout, and finishing, we make each decision point clear.Cards, boxes, individual wrapping, and other packaging can also be arranged.

Design & Material Review

We review the purpose, quantity, preferred material, and production format.

Pattern & Data Preparation

We prepare the object, 3D data, or rough sketch for rubber molding.

Rubber Mold

We make a negative mold for reproducing wax patterns from the master.

Wax Pattern

Injection wax is introduced and checked for bubbles, distortion, and flash.

Investment & Burnout

Wax patterns are assembled into a tree and invested. Dewaxing and burnout create the mold cavity.

Casting & Knockout

We cast while controlling mold and metal temperatures, then knock out and clean the pieces.

07

Cut-off & Finishing

Feed marks are refined before final processing, inspection, and delivery preparation.

Packaging

Optional outer-package design is available.

TECHNOLOGY

A process tailored
to form and purpose.

We mainly produce small objects up to about 10 × 10 cm, considering silver, brass, copper alloys, and other metals for each project. Because the process changes with melting point and alloy, we review material together with form, quantity, and finish.

Prototype inquiries can start from one piece, and product runs from around ten. We will outline the process and estimate based on purpose and finish.

Fine lines, shallow relief, and open forms require careful control of wax filling, flash, flow marks, parting lines, and feed removal. Creating a master from a new design incurs an additional modeling fee from ¥30,000.

A first-project direction fee of 20% of the production subtotal applies, with a minimum of ¥5,000. Small batches can start from around ten pieces. Because mold costs are fixed, the unit price generally decreases as quantity increases.
